been lurking somewhere else..

So what's up? Well, considering the fact that we don't have classes--again--and our quizzes were postponed and we only have 2 final exams next week and LA work's a bit delayed for next term, call me free!!! For now, at least. With that, I had a few memorable hours with my newly-fixed sewing machine. Welcome to my new hobby! It pretty much goes hand in hand with t-shirt printing, so it's all the more addicting. I'll post pictures next time. ^_^

Not a passenger

Have you been to batch reunions? We went to my dad's civil engineers' reunion yesterday and although I didn't know anyone and there really wasn't much to do, watching old friends catching up with each others' lives was actually quite fun...and scary.

Years from now, it's us who'll be having our own reunions. What stories will I be telling? Where have I traveled? Will I actually go to the reunion or be too embarrassed to show up if I'm not successful enough by that time? Or maybe, those are not the questions that would matter. Will I have a good life?

"So many things to do, so little time." The overused words cannot be more apt to how I'm feeling now. I want to try out so many things--more than my tired body can handle. Most of the days since I'm-not-sure-when, I have my thoughts on boxing. Or gloveless punching. Or anything similar to jabbing onto something hard. Like a wall. Yes, a concrete wall.

And that's how I suddenly forgot about trying out new things. 'Coz here's another side of it.

Two days ago, quite insanely, I hit the wall and got a bad bruise on my knuckles. I forgot why I did, but most of the time that I feel like hurting my hand, it's because I'm keeping myself from saying something that'd disturb my peaceful conversations with people.

on reco letters and my not-so-good history

i should be writing my brother a recollection letter now, but something came up. as i was looking for a nice envelope to use, i saw and read through past reco letters from my classmates in zobel. grade school until high. and here is one particular letter that bothered me:

Dear Rachel,
Hapi Reco...kung pwede lang talaga, pls. TAMA NA. Minsan lang talaga naiisip ko, bakit lang ako nandito sa mundo e kung mga tao sa paligid ko thinks I'm a big joke? Last year, last, last year...Paulit ulit na lang! Kung pwede lang, kasi, feel ko di na ko nabubuhay ng maayos kasi pinagtatawanan na rin ako...Pero, sometimes, nafoforgive na kita. Like nung ginawa nyo nung Saturday. But it hurts me pag inuulit ulit kasi nararamdaman ko talaga na joke lang talaga ako. So pls. Please. Stop. Please lang talaga. I still consider you as a friend. i've forever been a small girl. and i once was a small girl and a bully at the same time, but not that i regret it 100%. frankly, it's a bit of a relief to know that i wasn't at the losing end. still, it's not something to be proud of. and for that, i am truly sorry.. so to you: i hope you could read this, that is, if you still remember what you wrote me.

is it me, or has blogging become so tiring? well, considering the fact that all the other bloggers are still religiously updating theirs, yeah, i guess it's just me and my love for going all horizontal lately. i just want to get as much rest as i could these days, thanks to the stressful Student Council life. anyhow, to more or less sum up what i've been up to these past few weeks...

i just got home from my second visit to World Trade Center where they're holding the YHE events with Mafbex and am really stuffed with all the food for free tasting! *drool*

Green & White. 5 more terms and we are graduating..and we should, so we better make it good. speaking of, we(most of my friends) already worked on our Green & White requirements for the yearbook. yep, as early as now. and who best to do my 80-words-max write up than sam? here's what she did (i edited some parts and included elcid's contribution):

French class. i should be taking up European Studies since i find myself looking forward to 2:30pm(French) every MWF. although some people are more blessed with linguistic skills, probably my passion would pay off in time. and when i go to Paris... i'll stop now. that's a loooong way to go..

Actuarial Exams. now this is what i should be focusing on. i'm dismissing my hopes of taking the Probability exam come August. it's just too soon. and the next batch is in november, which seems like a better month. but from now on, i'll try to devote at least 2 hours a week studying for it, even if i would tend to repeat several theorems. at least they would stick to my brain cells, much like how the multiplication table is integrated in our systems. my hopes of travelling to europe depend on these exams...

goodbye DSL, hello SmartBro! i hope it's a good decision..but we had no choice. a little cost-cutting is needed. :p

and oui, i am getting the hang of french! not that much, though. but at least i kinda get the grammar, thanks to my "French: Step by Step" book. and joy was right about having a prof who speaks in pure french. we're actually learning to understand her faster and, well, get other resources like what i did. C'est tres interessant!

i think i lost some brain cells. i've become quite slow this week--in terms of daily routines. the dreamy feeling lessened by friday, good thing, but i still had to touch the bowl everytime i pee..just to see if i'm really in the comfort room. but what's weird is that i'm surprisingly more interested in listening to our profs. so i guess i'm not slow academically since so far, all the stat concepts still make sense.

tiiiring first day

of classes, yes. we're such losers that we start classes in May. and forget going to the gym today, at least we used the stairs to go up the Andrew building's 11th floor this morning. precious calories lost..wee!

if French class will keep on being like a game of charades as it did this afternoon, i'd regret paying for about 5k for that extra class. i don't need French, really. i just took it as an audit course for additional knowledge, meaning i need not go to my classes, take tests, nor will i get a grade for it. the prof was nice, except that the only English word she used earlier was "okay." and that's assuming all of us know nothing about the language. thanks to sir friedel, i learned "vous pouvez repeter sil vous plait" back in zobel. i don't even know if the spelling's correct but heck, i understood my prof when she said that earlier! anyway, i just hope she'll speak in English once in a while to at least make us understand what French sentences she'll be saying. i just want to have something to look forward to every MWF.

SC work. that's what's been keeping me busy. tomorrow at 9:30, we'll be setting up a freedom board as part of our advocacy against having venue rental fees for all academic sectors in dlsu. not that our manifesto against it will completely remove the fees, i just hope the administration will consider it. these fees would greatly affect batch units in the implementation of their activities..tsktsk.

while my butt hurts

aside from visiting the hospital again, this has been a pretty normal day. quite boring, if you ask me. that's why i ended up reading Entrepreneur magazine and found a few ways to earn extra money. kewl. i hope the idea won't escape me. for that, i'm thinking of learning how to sing jazz.. hmm..

there, Just Friends just ended in Star Movies and i can finally concentrate on blogging. i think the movie can give you a good laugh, especially Anna Faris' character, but the "love story" is too superficial: size-ist and definitely not inspiring.

anticipation is eating me!!! i'm excited for the 5th movie too, even though i'm not that much of a fan of book 5. but i want to see Dumbledore's Army at work and the fact that Daniel Radcliffe's bod is now KABOOM!

i think i need to read books 5 and 6 again. those are the two that i haven't repeated ever and some facts were quite forgettable. except the deaths and duels. i need to brush up on some of the names at least.

money never became an issue..until now. things are not going well, especially for my dadilolo. i visited San Juan de Dios hospital, but i didn't even see him. apparently, visiting time for patients in ICU is not until 6 in the evening. he still can't talk after a nerve in his brain sort-of..tore? popped? whatever. he's not ok and we're continually praying for him. i've never lost a close relative and i'm not planning to start now.

he collapsed in harrison plaza. whatever the hell he was doing there, i don't know, but he was believed to be blessed to have a stranger bring him to the hospital. not a cent lost, to think he was carrying a lot of dollars and credit cards at that time. none of us even got the chance to thank that person. he --or she-- left the hospital before my mom and lola arrived. well at least we know good people are still around. and that was in harrison plaza, where 50 bucks can get a pervert his *insert adjective here* oral pleasure!!

not everything is right. sometimes, we hate ourselves for what we do or think or feel. but then i've come to realize the normality of some things and that we respond to situations based on different ideologies. for this, i say it's okay to...

- expect. we are not bound to be surprised every time. anticipation may sometimes lead to frustration, but to expect is like setting a goal that may cause you to be more ambitious--in a good way.

- cry over grades that are short of being excellent. be it 0.07 points from being in the Dean's List or even graduating magna cum laude instead of summa, it's normal to feel bad. makes you always want to do better next time or through other means; it makes you always want to be your best.

- not say you love someone..(NOTE: not all the time!) although this may lead to hundreds of "what ifs," keeping your feelings to yourself may gauge the sincerity of the other person. i wouldn't suggest this, but i'm saying it's okay sometimes.

- be vain. loving the way you look is like appreciating what God has given you. wellthat's giving vanity a whole new look! [Disclaimer: i'm not vain.]

- punch the wall when you're mad. if it'd make you feel good then go ahead! just be ready with some ice and a forgiving heart.

i would like to stress that these are purely based on my personal thoughts and experience. being a non-professional nobody, i wouldn't know if these would apply to you. more to come next time.. xiao.

[spoiler] it's a pity he died and scarred half of his face.

the gym's been my daily stop for 3 days now! (dapat lang). it's been costing my mom too much and i don't really get to maximize it. she's actually planning to transfer me to Slimmers' World, which offers a lifetime plan. but before she does, i'mma make the most out of my membership. veggies, i love you now! ^_^

i just spent four days in Atrium hotel with the other elected SC officers for our L.E.A.D. it was fun, considering i met most of the people i'd be working with, and that we had five meals a day. ack, that would mean i'd have to go to the gym everyday to lose the pounds i've gained..well at least before we go to palawan on saturday. yey! ka-excite.

sa wakaaaasss!!! summer came to me! (pathetic. hihi) i've rarely done things for myself since the general elections, fixing my room included. so yeah, that's one of my priorities before May. gym, too. OMG. i've yet to lose all the unwanted pounds i gained, thanks to our devlish final exams that so needed comfort foods.

missed my laptop! it's with me now, finally, but all the files are gone.T_T and now i don't have photoshop. my cd's missing. grr. eng-eng... i lost my saved pics and my One Tree Hill 4 episodes. until epi 15 pa naman un. *sigh*

my first accomplishment yesterday: printed a new shirt! okay, mejo lame yung nakasulat, but i like how it turned out: dirty and misaligned. perfect. i made another shirt with the line BORN TO ANNOY but i used a bad font so hindi mabasa ung "annoy." ayusin ko nalang at tapalan ng iba. i'm planning to make lots of shirts this summer for next schoolyear.

last night was another first for me. i friggin went swimming in my undies. lol. umuwi pa ko ng basa. katamad na ikwento. sabi naman ng mga kasama ko ibblog rin nila eh. too much info...

nakatabi ko sa likod ng bus ang isang matandang gay (50 yrs old daw) kahapon while going to taft. dyos-meh. bigla nalang nyang kinuwento ang buhay nya sa katabi nyang lola 80 yrs old daw. hindi sila magkakilala. pero they entertained me the whole trip.

lola: anak mo yang nasa picture?
gay: ay oho. gradweyt na sya ngayon ng grade school..
lola: sino asawa?
gay: ay hiniwalayan ko na ho. nakilala ko yun sa parlor ko. 15 years old sya nun, ako mga 37. nakitulog lang ho iyon sa bahay ko at pinakain ko rin, mabait ako eh. kaso ayun nung hating-gabi, ginapang ako at na-rape. kaya eto may anak ngayon.

think take-home finals would be great? HELL NO. not for Sampling Theory. it's been eating up my valuable study time for my other theory subjects! gawd. nice Holy Week. 1 week nalang...1 week nalang!!!

over my gawddamned head

i've been away from the blogging world for a million reasons. to cite a few:

1. my laptop's being repaired for the 3rd week now and i miss it terribly.
2. last week was campaign week, and we've been training for weeks before it.
3. tests are quite out of my control these days because of reason #2.
4. still because of reason #2, i only get to spend about 5 hours a day at home, sleep and study time included. kill me now.

oh but good news, i have a new fone!

i think it's quite a beauty, actually. it was my dad's, originally, but he had a hard time adjusting to ericsson's keys. so, akin na to!! yey! cam-whoring time!

since my eyes are tired from reading the pdf file of the numenal notes and from making yet another layout (i love it this time--blue!), i'll make this entry short. para lang hindi naman stagnant ang blog ko. (sana short nga)

guested in One Night Only--Makuhari Restaurant. after several weeks of voicing practices with ate frida, sabren, and ideza, we finally got the chance to go onstage last night! nanood parents ko, zo, and some family friends. anj said nasa dyaryo kami. tabloid ata. hahaha!

complaints, and more complaints

to hell with back pains. urgh. all thanks to walking around the mall for 3 hours to look for something to wear for our show, trying to sit up straight in the SJ tables while having a meeting with the COS LAs, and then flumping onto the bus seat with contours that are not meant for human relaxation.

Focus 2005 got *sigh* eliminated for LSAL's women's basketball last thursday. but at least we reached the quarter(or semi?)finals. oh, that day was fuun. we were dismissed at 12:20 so i was able to work out in the gym for about 3.5 hours...then back to school for the special LA session... then went to sports complex to cheer for our batch's team. there were 5 players originally. i became the 6th and changed back into my sweaty gym attire. pathetic. kalahati ata score namin sa BNE 08. but the burnt calories were worth it!

Life Contigency test this morning. oh my gawd. i'm down 15 points automatic. for the 3rd time, i was mentally-blocked with completing tables. yung mga madaling gawin pero nalimutan yung formula.. so patay. nada points for me. and it's a major subject. geez.

i'm kinda regretting i took up BS-STAT. nasilaw nga ata ako sa pera. malaki daw kita sa actuarial science eh. haay.. statistics is not something i really enjoy kahit mejo mataas naman mga stat subjects ko. i mean, i love probabilities but as of now, i can't seem to see myself computing for the rest of my life. oh well, shifting is out of the question. let's see where Gauss' spirit will take me.

we had a meeting earlier and after the discussion, chichi time:
gwen: mga math and stat majors kayo, edi wala kayong lab subjects..baduy!
me: meron ah! sa computer lab. numerical analysis. using excel...

wee, free time! finally. it's hard to acquire such a luxury these days. and my gym time is suffering! gawd.

rnp (rules and policies) committee had a pretty light-hearted working session last week. we were working on the council of university representatives (CURE) manual and leah just started a really corny joke that alice and i, both from COS, couldn't understand. so it's back to college-bashing. COS versus them non-science-lovers. they're mean. >:)

ugh, choco fondue + salmon + mix of red and white pasta sauce + etc. = test of dietary discipline (@ nina's debut). they had very delectable food choices. oh, not choices, since i didn't choose what to eat. i ate a bit of everything! grr. but the really kewl thing about that night was sharing the table with my badminton teammates. i missed them!!!

we went to tagaytay again last saturday, but with new company. i met mom's highschool barkada and got to mingle with their kids. which brings me to thinking, will my hs friends ever go out of town in 10, 20 years from now? dapat!!

floating subjects=crap. i'm pretty sure that chem and kaspil2 will be the most demanding and time consuming subjects this term, after hearing what friends and upperclassmen had to say about our profs. geez. on the other hand, i feel like i'll enjoy lifeco1 (life contingencies). the subject's about the probability of death. yes, dying. hmm, this should be interesting...

breaking news: my room is still clean and everything's still in order! yey! it lasted a week! and i'm proud to say that i'm trying real had to be organized this year. to aid me with this resolution, mom gave me the 2007 starbucks planner. hihi! syempre feel na feel ko magsulat.

i remember migo saying that The Aviator bored him to the point of leaving the movie house. or was it rap? anyway, the movie didn't have the same effect on me. it's leonardo dicaprio, for crying out loud! i used to worship him.

geez. thanks to watching it, i searched for leo pics again and AGAIN read his movie synopses.

just before starting this post, i chanced on a feature on National Geographic of the movies Titanic and The Abyss. both by james cameron. remember leo's dying scene in titanic? apparently, that wasn't very plausible--he still lasted a few minutes before submitting to hypothermia and was even able to talk.





i've yet to watch the abyss even if it was an earlier movie. hmm..cryogenics and breathing liquids can definitely get my interest.

enough of science, oh my gawd.

it's fun to do icons. i did three last night (see the start of this entry). i'll be posting icons from time to time when i've nothing to do. but that wouldn't be in a while, since tomorrow, we're back to prison. school's back and i need to fix my sched and find time for my other non-school-related activities, aka gym and voice lessons.

back to leo.. i wanna watch Blood Diamond!!! i've heard very good feedbacks about it at kahit gurang na at dirty-looking at may Bar Refaeli na si leo darlin, old flame ko parin yun. hahahah!

amazing race. not amazing race asia, or anything on TV. i set up clues around the house for jerick and included tasks like solving multiplication and other academic questions. lo and behold, he didn't complain! see? tactics. the final clue led to a 20-Peso bill and a promise to buy him a cheap toy tomorrow. wrong move, i shouldn't have included the promise. i have 200 bucks with me. maybe less.

new layout! it's pretty simple, just did some brushwork and put in pastels. quite girly, really.

Ace Water Spa. no, haven't been there, but i want to! maybe you've heard about it and i'm late on the buzz. i saw it being featured in Kay Susan Tayo while i was on the bus this morning. then of course i looked it up online and it seemed (haaay) relaxing just seeing the pictures. think water jets and therapeutic pools and bubble massages..herbal pools. oh my gawd. fyi: it's located at 399 del monte ave, san francisco del monte, near corner Banawe St., QC. Tel. numbers 3678040-41. and oh! 4 hours worth of using all services is P480 for adults. actually, it's quite okay kung KKB. hehe! no food allowed.

A Sizzlin 2007 to ALL!!!

my gawd, this blog has been so dead this break. for some irritating reason, our dsl decided to go suhloooooowwww. and when it finally returned to its normal surfing speed, i can't connect to blogger! oh well, i missed blogging.

Dec. 30, 2006. my 19th burtdey. we got home from an overnight in tagaytay before lunch and what was supposed to be a simple pigging out with my family turned out to be one purfect day. there was a big card in my bedroom door with instructions to open the card after opening the door. so...suprise, surprise!

new skins. while i was far from being an active blogger, i entertained myself with making 3 more skins which i submitted for others' use.

the last one's the hardest, believe me. that's the first layout i made using line art and then coloring and shading. it took me almost 6 hours to do the image alone. i need to practice this method more.

room sweet room. yey! finally, i can sleep in my room alone, now that it's clean enough to be inhabited. yes, i do not sleep in my room. haha loser. we're just trying to save up on energy(aircon) so my brother and i sleep in one room. now that i've decided to go solo, i'd have to settle with an electric fan. oh well.

virus. friggin cough and colds. i need more vitamin C!
